Good Clean Fear.
Early on this year as I was asking of the Lord where I was to set my heart in the scripture I felt so pulled to the book of proverbs. I thought sure I can read through that one a day for a month but what am I supposed to study and sit in… that’s what I really wanted to know.
Well here I am starting month 5 and I don’t want to stop. I know a proverb a day is part of most bible reading plans however for me they are becoming literal bread for my soul. [Matthew 4:4] The great wealth and depth of treasure hidden within is what we are made to discover and delight in.
So He’s got me parked in the instruction of a Father…the teaching of a mother.
What a book.
Because you just can’t go wrong with something that starts off with a thesis statement like this:
To know WISDOM and INSTRUCTION
To discern the sayings of UNDERSTANDING
To receive instruction in WISE BEHAVIOR,
Righteousness, Justice and Equity
To give PRUDENCE to the naive
To the youth KNOWLEDGE and DISCRETION
A wise man will HEAR and INCREASE in LEARNING
And a man OF UNDERSTANDING will acquire WISE COUNSEL
To understand a proverb and a figure
The words of the wise and their riddles.
And then chapter 2’s application and so on through 31.
I’m blogging simply because my heart is coming so alive through the wisdom buried within. Which leads me to the real hidden treasure…
The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge
The fear of the Lord is written about 20 times (NASB) in the book of proverbs alone.
To this one I will look, To him who is humble and contrite of spirit, and who trembles at my word.
Hear the word of the Lord, you who tremble at His word.
[Isaiah 66:2,5]
I think when it comes down to it, we simply must be encountered by the living God through His word. He’s alive, His word is alive.
I just want to be like Peter and found saying, It is You who holds the words of eternal life - where else can I go.
[john 6:68]
Knowing and believing that there is no where else/nothing else that can sustain my weak heart, no other comfort, no other fill.
I really just want to encourage you to run head long into word, it’s truly the place of encounter with His heart.
It’s the place of understanding
….wisdom
….discernement
….knowledge
and it all begins with the fear of the Lord.
That’s good and clean. [Psalm 19:9]
It’s not real, I want nothing to do with it. So together let’s just run into Him, let’s search for Him like hidden treasure.
For He is worth far more.
Enduring.
Everlasting.
He out shines the sun.
I’m aware my words are small and weak
I just pray He encounters your heart in that place of meeting. Enlightening you in true understanding, establishing you in the fear of the Lord.
